Summerfrolic 2024

From the start of 2024, Barry and I really wanted to join the Summerfrolic to Party, but just a few weeks later, the organizer of Summerfrolic emailed me and hired me to create their website.

Time flew so fast that after I finished the website, they wanted me to stay in Mati City to help with the preparation of the event. It was like a dream, but I lived it as reality. I went to Mati and stayed for 2 months, helping with the procurements, sponsorships, marketing, and advertising. It was all new to me, but it felt like I had been working with them for years.

I also got to find new friends, and a lot has happened. After 2 weeks, I went back home to prepare for my Coron, Palawan trip, and after that, I went back to Mati together with my partner, Barry, who was also hired to manage the event program.

THE DESIGN

The design idea is from my boss, this kind of Juan Tamad theme and Singularity. I just helped visualize some parts like the circuit board, ticketing booth, and other social media materials.

THE EXPERIENCE

It was a nice experience and I hope to come back, but as a partygoer, not as an organizer. It was exhausting but fun. For the 2 days of the event, I wasn't able to eat right because my focus was on the event.

TICKETS

There is something I was proud of because I was able to identify which tickets were fake and real. We were able to confiscate hundreds of fake VIPs. I have been doing PVC IDs and I know how to check what is fake or not.

CHALLENGES

I was assigned to sponsorships and I am also proud that I was able to secure several sponsorships. BUT, there is a but. There was one sponsor who wasn't happy; there was a misunderstanding and it might be my fault because the terms were not clear to them. It is a very big lesson learned to put everything in writing.

FUTURE

I'm not sure if I want to go back as an organizer, but I'm sure that if there is another Summerfrolic, I will go and party.
