I celebrated my birthday in a way that combines my love for hiking and my desire to give back to the community. Our destination was Lampanag Ridge in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon, where my family and I set out for an exhilarating hike as part of an outreach program I initiated.
The Hike
Lampanag Ridge is known for its challenging yet rewarding trails. The hike, while not easy, was incredibly enjoyable. The trail winds through lush greenery, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. As we made our way up, the sense of accomplishment and the beauty of nature around us made every step worth it. The camaraderie among us hikers, sharing laughs and encouraging each other, added to the joy of the experience.
The Outreach Program
After our hike, we gathered at the gymnasium of Lampanag to kick off the outreach program. The event started with a series of fun games, bringing smiles and laughter to the faces of the community members who joined us. It was heartwarming to see everyone, from children to elders, participating enthusiastically and enjoying the festivities.
Following the games, we shared a delicious meal prepared by my friends. The food was a hit, and it was a wonderful opportunity to sit down and connect with the community members over a shared meal. The sense of togetherness and the joy on everyone’s faces made the celebration truly special and memorable.
A Minor Hiccup
Amidst all the fun and excitement, I encountered a small challenge—I left behind my favorite hiking shoes. I realized this on our way back home, which put a bit of a damper on an otherwise perfect day. However, luck was on my side, and I was able to retrieve the shoes a few weeks later. This little hiccup turned into a reminder of the kindness and honesty of the people we met during our visit.
Reflections
This birthday celebration at Lampanag Ridge was not just about reaching the summit or organizing a successful event; it was about the connections we made and the memories we created.
